Featured Gardens of the NJBG

Pump House Restoration

Built in the late 1800's, the charming Pump House is the first building you see when entering the park. It has long needed repair, with many missing shingles and large holes in its roof. Unfortunately, the State does not currently have the means or funds to do the work, so NJBG has taken on the project.

Volunteer Opportunities

Our volunteers are central to the New Jersey Botanical Garden.
They volunteer their time, energy, and share their skills and talents with others in furtherance of our mission to stimulate a greater appreciation between gardens and people.
Additionally, our volunteers enjoy working with others with similar interests, forming new friendships, and learning new things in a beautiful environment.

A number of our volunteers have spent hours using GIS technology to map out the location of each plant in some of our gardens. With the use of your mobile phone, you will be able to view where you are on a map of a garden and identify the plants you are viewing.

Tours

NJBG frequently hosts tours of the gardens and the Manor House. Most of the tours last approximately 45 minutes to an hour. In addition, NJBG offers the opportunity for schools and other groups to arrange a tour of either the Manor or garden or both.

Family Hikes & Walks

The New Jersey Botanical Gardens includes 96 acres of gardens surrounded by 1000 acres of woodlands. Join NJBG hike leaders on an easy, child-friendly hike in the Garden's woodlands. Learn a bit about the plants, animals and geology around you.

Support

NJBG relies on public contributions to preserve and enhance the gardens as well as repair and renovate the historically designated Carriage House. Memorial trees and benches are one way to do this. You can also contribute through this website or use Amazon Smile.

Membership

It's easy to join NJBG or renew your membership — or a gift membership — online, by phone or by mail. Some of the benefits of your NJBG membership include discounts at participating nurseries, garden centers, and our Gift Shop as well as guest passes for our Manor Tours.
